Tesla produces truly cool and high-class cars that can surprise motorists with their characteristics. Tesla’s Model X Plaid SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph faster than cars in Formula 2, Formula E & Formula 1, which only emphasizes the company's skill in creating cars.

Tesla Model X has always been much better in performance and safety than other vehicles in the SUV category. For example, in 2019, it made history when it became the first and only SUV to ever receive a 5-star safety rating in every category and sub-category from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition, Model X received a 5-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP), which evaluates a car’s safety assistance features as well as its ability to protect adults, children, and vulnerable road users.

Released last year, the updated Model X, in addition to its achievements already, added a few new ones that once again raised it to a higher level. With the most power and quickest acceleration of any SUV, Model X Plaid is the highest performing SUV ever built. However, it outperforms not only SUVs in terms of acceleration, but even sportier rivals.

According to the description on Tesla's website, Model X Plaid is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 2.5 seconds, which is mind-boggling given its size and mass. However, new private tests show that Tesla was too modest when indicating this time.

Vehicle Virgins/YouTube ran some tests on Model X Plaid under ordinary driving conditions. The car was tested on a city street, with a battery charge of 65%, which could have a negative impact on performance. However, the SUV shocked everyone, when it delivered an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph of 2.3 seconds, which is definitely an incredible result.

To understand this performance, let's look at the acceleration of cars from 0 to 60 mph in the most popular races:

  • NASCAR: 3.4 seconds
  • Formula 3: 3.1 seconds
  • IndyCar: 3 seconds
  • Formula 2: 2.9 seconds
  • Formula E: 2.8 seconds
  • MotoGP: 2.6 seconds
  • Formula 1: 2.6 seconds

The figures speak for themselves.
