Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine. Administrator Power highlighted the courage and sacrifice of Ukraine in the face of Putin’s continued aggression, and reaffirmed USAID’s enduring commitment to helping Ukraine advance as a sovereign, independent, democratic, and prosperous society.
Administrator Power and Prime Minister Shmyhal discussed support from USAID for Ukraine’s current priorities, including addressing attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure and advancing key judicial, institutional, and democratic reforms. They agreed on the importance of Ukraine maintaining a trajectory of democratic progress and rooting out corruption.
