Katy Perry explains why she is leaving ‘American Idol’

(CNN) - Katy Perry is getting ready to return to her day job.
This is the singer-songwriter’s seventh and final season as a judge on “American Idol.” She has been a judge alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan since 2018.
In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Perry said her time on the singing competition show has been “wild” and that it has “flown by.”
Perry said this was the right time to leave and that she will be keeping herself busy with music.
She recently teased that she will be putting out a new album called “KP6.” This will be her first recording since 2020′s “Smile.”
