More reports have surfaced that Samsung is rumored to soon design its own custom chipset for the 2025 models of the Galaxy S series.

The new reports come from reliable tipster IceUniverse and South Korean publication Inews24. They cited a rumor that suggests that Samsung officials were disappointed with the backlash they received from the Galaxy S22 series’ Game Optimizing issue. They were also not pleased with the poor performance and thermal management of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chipsets.

Having said that, the manufacturer is set on improving their device optimizations in the future akin to what Apple is doing with their A-series chipsets.

Though Samsung has made custom CPUs pre-2020 Exynos, they closed down its custom chipset department back in December 2019.

As it is, the Exynos chipset seems to be the SoC that comes to mind when you hear a Samsung custom chip. But in reality, it is not a custom-made chipset for the S-series. This is because the manufacturer also sells these in-house chipsets to other brands like Motorola and vivo.

For now, we can only wait for the company’s announcement of its plans regarding whether these new chipsets will be a part of its existing Exynos line or a totally brand new line of SoCs.
