Currently, one of the most important graphics card manufacturers in the world is NVIDIA, which offers all kinds of solutions. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIAhas “dressed” as a distributor and has delivered the first system DGX H200, which he has signed. He has given it to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company behind the development of ChatGPT.
Artificial intelligence is here to stay, invading everything. This technology requires very advanced and powerful computing systems to be able to resolve the requests made. Which requires advanced systems that the main hardware manufacturers are already supplying.
OpenAI receives the first DGX H200
A few months ago NVIDIA presented its new H200 system to the world. This system makes use of GPU of architecture NVIDIA Hopper, the most advanced of the company currently. It allows a processing speed of up to 4.8 TB/second, which is truly impressive.
This system integrates no less than 141 GB of HMB3a memory, the fastest on the market and specially optimized for AI tasks. Thanks to all these elements, the H200 systems practically double the power of the H100 for artificial intelligence tasks. To give you an idea, the new H200 improve performance in GPT-3 by 60% and Llama 2 by up to 90%.
Something interesting about H200 is the compatibility with the technologies developed for the H100. This means that AI companies will be able to use the H100 training/inference models in the new H200 systems. These companies will benefit from a reduction in work times.
The first beneficiary, as it could not be otherwise, is the company with the greatest demand for NVIDIA systems. We are talking about OpenAI, Sam Altman’s company that is a leader in the artificial intelligence segment. In the end, they are the developers of ChatGPT and its GPT-4.5 model and they are close to launching the GPT-5 model.
The first H200 that OpenAI has received has been delivered by Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. There is even a photo of Huang, Altman and Brockman (co-founder of OpenAI) with the H200 system. We can see in the image how Huang himself has written something on the chassis, set the date and signed it.
Well, if OpenAI ends up going bankrupt or needs money, they could surely sell this first H200. The truth is that it could have great value in the future as it is the first system of these characteristics delivered and signed by the head of NVIDIA himself. It would surely sell for a significant amount of money.
AI segment demands
NVIDIA has a huge advantage over its main competitors, such as AMD and Intel. The company has been preparing for this industry for years, so they have a long way to go. Its main competitors are working at full speed to offer solutions that can compete with them, something that seems complicated.
The truth is that the company now has a position of total dominance and it is an expanding segment. In the end it is necessary to offer solutions for all potential clients with different needs and resources. NVIDIA offers powerful solutions, but with prices that are truly prohibitive for many companies.
