I am wondering if this is the second week-long pause that the one reddit post was talking about. They did not publicly confirm it last time they paused for a week until the sales call.

If you look at the video from Bear's flyover, there are absolutely no cars in the area furthest from the factory, where they are usually staged to load onto the trucks. I can see why the DA's have no real guidance. I am not sure that Lucid even knows given the stagnation in Casa Grande. I am sure somebody knows what they are hoping to do, but it isn't trickling down and you can't run a business on "hopes". They do look to be filling up the areas in the middle and closest to the factory. With absolutely no cars in the area "ready to be shipped", they are looking at a lengthy gap/slowing of deliveries as it looks like there have been no recent shipments out nor will there be any in the near future. Sad.

The thing that most bothers me about all of this is the lack of any real meaningful communication or guidance. Heck, if the reason is that we are missing part X, Y or Z and expect them in by XX/XX/XX, just say so. If the reason is that something happened so bad in the production process that all of these cars require double the inspection process and to be reworked due to A, B or C, tell that too so I can reconsider what the ultimate impact on quality might be or at least include that in my personal inspections. Being hush, hush about it all is the worst thing they can do. They just leave it all to us to sleuth and speculate to our imagination's content.

My DA would not even confirm any type of "pause", in April or May.

I share your concerns but the assignment of a vin should probably only be read as promise/plane to assemble a particular car. I bet it has little to to with the old system of sequential vins on the assembly line. i.e. they have everything on hand to build. But if supplies shift or they don’t want to recharge the paint system to a different color, the vin is shifted back for production. So that timing can be weird without a quality concern.

If it were built and sitting. That’s a different story and unless I knew it was a missing part, I’d be worried about possible bigger repairs outside the line. You would expect at least ten percent to have some touch up with all the stages of ge the car to you. I particularly hate paying before I inspect it myself.

I also wonder about our forum’s sample size vs all Lucid production. How much do you think we represent?

Assignment of a VIN means the car is "in production" per multiple Lucid personnel, my DA and his boss. There is no sequential nature to the assignment of their VIN's. Per Lucid personnel, VIN's are issued at a certain point in the production process. It does not mean they have the parts sitting on the shelf. Otherwise, supply chain issues would not impact timing once you have a VIN. Lucid would not have increased and expanded the inspection process had things been copacetic. It is obvious that they either were not happy with the inspection process everyone up until now had taken delivery under or something is causing them to revise and expand the processes. They will not say, but some have heard that there were significant panel gap issues. We really don't know.

The sample size of the forum is relatively and statistically small, but the video of the staging area is not and includes all cars for potential delivery. No cars in that third area, the area we have seen them loading trucks in, is significant, especially given the communication some have gotten with respect to the inspection process being expanded, both at Casa Grande and at the Service Centers. Those cars in the middle area and the area just outside the factory are built and sitting. They do not have travel covers on them either, for the most part.

There really isn't any way to sugar coat it.

5.6%
I counted 37 delivered vehicles on this forum in the first 4 months of 2022. Total sales in the 4 month period, according to Lucid, were 660.

I agree that Lucid’s communication practices are poor and need a shakeup at an upper management level to better deal with it. Having said that, I would much rather Lucid deal with their problems at the factory, rather than delivering and later recalling cars.

Lucid is actually delivering EVs in a time line that most other EV makers aspire to. Just ask any person who has ordered a Rivian. I’m 1 year into what was said to be a 6 month window. I will be stoked if I get it in another year, but even that seems unrealistic.

If you are comparing Lucid deliveries to Rivian, they are not. Rivian has 71k orders, more than double what Lucid has and they are delivering them at a rate which is nearly 3.5x what Lucid did in Q1. Rivian has many more vehicles on order So it is going to take longer to clear. However, they appear to be ramping up faster than Lucid. For lucid, I am now entering month 7 for what was to be a 2-4 month timeline, so I wouldn’t say Lucid is faster.

I agree. These 2 companies started producing cars within weeks of each other. Rivian has been quite vocal about its production struggles and supply chain constraints yet seems to be getting better momentum than Lucid. Like I said in another post, no sooner does Lucid seem to get momentum going on the production line something causes them to stop and they hunker down and go silent. Peter may be a great engineer but at this point in time it's looking like he may not be the right person to actually run the company.

I was talking with the Scottsdale service team this week and was told that there is a new PDI checklist that is much more extensive and there are also several new procedures for panel alignment. I was also told that no grey cars have been delivered from Scottsdale even though they have had a couple in PDI for two weeks

Did you order grey? You are on month 7 of a 2-4 month window. I will be at month 24+ on my 6 month Rivian window. The production comparison has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. It is the estimated delivery time frames vs actual.

Also, take a look at the rivian forum on fit and finish issues..yikes..

You have to take the comparison to when both companies started producing cars and Rivian is off to a better start than Lucid there is no denying that. There was always going to be a 12+ month delay on the Rivian if you weren't an early reservation holder because they had 100K+ orders on a factory that could only output 50K a year. The delay is now longer because they cut the guidance by half so only 25K are coming out this year pushing everyone else down the line. Lucid never had reservations exceed the factory capacity of 34K so they were in a much better position to ramp up production and get ahead of the curve. Yet, Rivian is currently churning our cars faster than Lucid.

Not according to Sandy. Will be interesting to see the teardown but the guy has a solid reputation and he's praising the Rivian

Just checking posts. We were told we would be getting our GT from someone who declined delivery. We even got the vin at that time and we’re told Purchase Agreement was coming in a few days. That was one month ago. Latest is that it is in Chicago, but they have a backlog of deliveries. Not sure if it’s that or a QC issue.

Feb 1. 2022 confirmed, Grand Touring, Red, Tahoe, @psychlyst, March 3, 2022 VIN assigned, delivered April 29, 2022.

Yes, there were several Grey GTs that got shipped prior to the "pause" that has filled up the middle section of the lot at Casa Grande. A few actually got delivered, but many, many more are going through the "enhanced PDI" at both Casa Grande and the Service Centers. @Neurio is one of those with his car in Beverly Hills for, what seems like, weeks.
