Tesla is reportedly suspending Fisker Ocean replacement

It appears that Tesla is no longer accepting Fisker Ocean trade-in offers from customers. A screenshot of Tesla’s apparent notice that was shared online shows that the trading pause is temporary and was implemented in part due to uncertainty surrounding the electric vehicle launch.

Fisker followers on the r/Fisker subreddit have noticed that the walls appear to be closing in on the launch of an electric vehicle. Some have even noticed that Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker has apparently disabled comments on his personal Instagram page. Among these observations was a member of r/Fisker u/UxC4 reportedly shared a screenshot from Tesla stating that no Fisker Ocean replacements will be allowed for now.

Below is the obvious announcement from Tesla regarding the Fisker Ocean replacement.

Immediate discontinuation of accepting Fisker Ocean trades

Effective immediately, we are temporarily suspending acceptance of Fisker Ocean exchange transactions. This is due to significant uncertainty in the market for Fisker Ocean vehicles, which has disrupted expected values for these vehicles.

We are closely monitoring available market data and will update you on next steps as soon as market stability returns and accurate information becomes available.

Fisker is currently in a difficult situation, with recent reports indicating that the company has lost millions of dollars in customer payments as it tries to increase vehicle deliveries. The missing payments reportedly included down payments and full payments for the Ocean, the company’s all-electric crossover SUV. Fisker also initiated massive ocean price cuts, and Fisker shares were delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.

Unfortunately for the electric vehicle maker, recent reports also suggest that a potential deal with a major automaker – which would have helped Fisker gain more funds to continue operating – has fallen through. The news comes just a week after the company halted production of the Ocean, the only vehicle delivered to consumers today.
