[Home Depot] Wyze thermostat - $109.00 - $75.00 Enbridge rebate =$34.99!

Home Depot Canada has the same price on the wyze thermostat as amazon.ca ($109.00).

link-> https://www.homedepot.ca/product/wyze-s ... 1001663895

there is a Enbridge rebate for $75.00 that applies to this unit at: https://www.enbridgegas.com/residential ... hermostats (applies to other units, but is ridiculous relative to the price of the wyze unit)

fill in, and if you get it - you get an email to scan at check out.

34.99$ is a no brainer if you need a wifi thermostat. needs a c wire but comes with the adapter in the box

My anecdotal review of the product is very negative. Installed it at the beginning of this summer.
  • The adapter for c wire needs to be installed inside the furnace, that meant messing around with furnace wiring. With the adapter installed, fan control can be independent as in old school thermostats.
  • Wyze app is very very basic. The only statistic you get is how long the A/C was on on a day/week. No info about when it was running, what temperature it turned on/off. How long it took to cool from Y to X, etc.
  • The app disconnects from the thermostat very frequently. On android, I have to remove the app from the multitasking menu before I can use it again.
  • Worst of all, the temperature sensor on the thermostat is wonky. It reads correct temperature when the A/C is not on (trust me I compared it with a digital thermometer placed right beside it). However, with the A/C on the delta between actual temperature and temprature reported by the thermostat increases, causing the A/C to run wayyy longer compared to my old thermostat.
Honestly, It's so frustrating that if I had the energy to remove it, I would have done it way back.

Stay away guys.

Form is asking if I received a "promo key from an Energy Savings Kit". I didn't, but anyone know what this "kit" is and whether this would affect eligibility?

Having experienced other Wyze toys I don't think I'm ready to trust them to control my HVAC system.

does the rebate come with strings attached? Do they get control over your thermostat, etc?

The code can't be used online at Home Depot it can only be used in store. I don't think a store is going to allow an Ontario only coupon to be used in Calgary.

I have this one https://www.homedepot.ca/product/emerso ... 1000830270 and got it with the rebate. It didn't even need C wire for me. Been over a year on it's original batteries. I don't adjust it that often. App is rather basic but lets you program stuff or adjust it from your phone. That's all I needed though
