Goa records 52 new Covid cases, 1 death

PANAJI: Goa recorded 52 Covid-19 cases on Monday and 120 recoveries pushing its active tally to 871.
For the last few days, the state had reported a daily average of over 100 cases, while on Sunday 87 cases were detected.
With one death recorded during the day, the fatality count rose to 3,956.
A sharp decline in cases over the last 24 hours is attributed to the closure of testing centres due to the Independence day holiday.
Also during weekends the Covid testing facility is open only at government hospitals.
The recovery rate was at 98% and the positivity rate was at 10.33 % which has been over 10% for the last few days. No patient was hospitalised over the last 24 hours.
TOI had recently reported that Goa’s daily positivity rate is thrice the national average.
Goa continues to fare poorly in its coverage of precautionary/booster dose coverage and has achieved 10% coverage which is among the lowest in the country.
