Single Covid death Tuesday in Latvia

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said on May 17 that 304 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed during the last 24 hours and one Covid-related deaths recorded.

Of 4.033 tests carried out altogether, 7.5% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population fell very slightly from 174 Monday to 170 Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 826,342 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

The one victim was aged 90-99 and was not fully vaccinated.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,804.

Tuesday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 198 patients being treated in hospitals, 8 of whom are displaying serious Covid symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
