Hybrid Working

Structured Hybrid Role

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

Introduction


  • Ensure monthly cost of income process run smoothly and maintain all the BAU activities related to cost of income including commentaries, investigate accrual Vs. Actuals variance analysis.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a strong internal control environment, review key controls: IaRs, SAP adjustment summary, OAOL related to cost of income, investigate the cost of income booking flows.
  • Support the strategic initiatives related to cost if income.
  • Manage the Trading/Business Manger’s Expectation for cost planning/budgeting


What will you be doing?


  • Investigate Accrual vs. Actuals differences have necessary commentary.
  • Ensure there is no significant O/U reported.
  • Develop a sound understanding of Daily /Weekly /Monthly processes – “the what”, “the why” and “the how”.
  • Attend to ad hoc queries from the traders and other infrastructure partners relating to various Trading costs


Weekly / Monthly Responsibilities


  • Ensure Month end process completed in time with accuracy.
  • Month End adjustments and Balance Sheet Substantiation
  • Perform key weekly & monthly reporting to senior management
  • Attend to queries from internal and external audit and reviews and maintain key stroke documentations for key cost of Income processes, risk assessment and SOX documentation


Controls


  • Ensure that a strong internal control environment is maintained at all times. Review key controls: Fx exposure, Approximate bookings, IUR, IaRs, Volcker excesses, STRs, SAP adjustment summary, OAOL
  • Identify and drive process re-engineering and constantly challenge current processes for improvement and efficiency
  • Raise any control weaknesses to the team. Brainstorm with the team to come up with an action plan.


Personal Traits


  • Good financial product knowledge
  • Appreciation and understanding of financial markets
  • Experienced with MS office toolkit (Word, PPT, Excel, Access Database, Alteryx, Tableau, Python etc), especially advanced excel skills required.
  • Experience in Alteryx and Tableau tools will be advantage.
  • Be Self Motivated and Proactive to take initiative and improve the end product.
  • Work well within the team and portray high standards of team work.
  • Ask questions and challenge status quo. Do not assume that every current practice is the best practice. Question and satisfy yourself with the reasons for doing certain things in a certain way.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills


What We’re Looking For


  • Experienced with MS office toolkit (Word, PPT, Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, Python, Access Access Database etc)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings & ability to interact with the region and UK / US as part of a global team (written and verbal) Strong control awareness – in particular, the ability to identify and escalate potential control breakdowns and to streamline processes in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Has the initiative and ability to break down problems into components parts and resolving them
  • Attention to detail and analytical
  • Confident and assertive manner
  • MBA from reputed institutes [post qualification exp of 3yrs+]


Skills That Will Help You In The Role


  • Masters in Finance / Financial Engineering would be an advantage
  • Audit exposure in large financial institutions / banks preferred
